Senator Thomas B. Saviello is currently serving his fourth term in the Maine State Senate. He represents the people of Senate District 17, which includes all municipalities and unorganized territories in Franklin County, as well as Belgrade, Fayette, Mount Vernon and Vienna in Kennebec County.
Prior to being elected to the Senate in 2010, Senator Saviello served four terms in the Maine House of Representatives. During his time in the Legislature he has been a member of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, the Environment and Natural Resources Committee, the Joint Select Committee on Regulatory Reform and the Senate Committee on Senatorial Vote.
He currently serves as the Chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and as a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee.
His public service also includes serving as a school board member for SAD 9, serving four terms as a selectman in Wilton and 15 years on the Maine Pesticide Control Board.
Senator Saviello graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Tennessee. He then went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Agronomy and a Ph.D. in Forest Resources from the University of Maine. Senator Saviello retired in 2010 after nearly 33 years in the forest products industry.
Senator Saviello lives in Wilton with his dog Henry. He is a member of the Wilton Lions, Farmington Rotary and West Farmington Fire Department. He has two grown children, Ben and Allison.
