VERGE - the leading climate tech event - is looking for exceptional artists to illuminate the critical themes of our time. We aim to spark conversations and inspire change, transcending traditional boundaries through the power of art.

VERGE 23, taking place October 24-26 at the San Jose Convention Center, will attract over 5,000 leaders, all committed to accelerating solutions to the climate crisis in critical areas such as clean energy, sustainable transportation, carbon removal, regenerative food systems, net-zero buildings and the startup ecosystem.

How To Submit

Submission Guidelines

Eligibility: Open to artists or teams over the age of 18 globally.

Budget: All-inclusive budgets may range from $500 - $3,000.

Loaned and commissioned art are both considered. Offsite experiences will also be considered.

Deadline to Apply

Applicants must submit their materials through the art submission form.

Deadline to submit: 5:00 pm (PDT) on Friday, July 28, 2023

Selected artists will be notified by Friday, August 4, 2023.

Information Session

Interested parties are encouraged to attend a live info session or watch a recording online afterward. The session will include a Q&A. The session will be recorded and made available on this page. Click here to register for the session on Eventbrite.

GreenBiz will provide the following:

  • Logistical support for installation.
  • Promotion of the artwork across event marketing materials.
  • Potential pairing with aligned partners to expand artwork's impact.
  • Basic infrastructure needs to support art placement, such as flooring pads, identification signage, etc.

Evaluation Criteria

  • The artwork serves the GreenBiz’s mission and vision.
  • The artwork aligns with our experiential mission of creating an inspiring, empowering, and cohesive experience for the VERGE community.
  • The artists have demonstrated the capacity to deliver the proposed project based on their previous work. Factors that will be considered are the artists’ creative background and organizational skills around similar-scale projects.
  • The originality of the concept and approach.
  • The artwork supports justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) in some capacity.

Questions related to Call for Artists should be submitted via email to [email protected]. All questions submitted will be answered in the order received and posted weekly.

The Fine Print

Once selected, applicants will be asked to refine their Preliminary Artwork Concept and present a Final Artwork Concept to GreenBiz for review and approval. 50% of the grant will be issued upon a signed agreement of the proposal and 50% after the event. Applicants are required to deliver and pick up artwork at the designated site. Artists shall deliver “Free on Board” destination and installation until GreenBiz accepts the loaned artwork. Applicants are responsible for ensuring they meet the eligibility requirements for submitting all documents and information in the correct format. Incomplete or inappropriate applications may be scored accordingly. Art must abide by local, state and federal safety laws, along with regulations of the SJCC.
